AI Engineer

We are looking for an AI Engineer.  The AI Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying machine learning models and AI-driven solutions to enhance crew management analytics and operational efficiency. This role involves close collaboration with data reporting teams, IT, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities for automation and predictive insights. The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills, experience with ML frameworks, and a passion for solving complex problems with data.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain AI/ML models for crew analytics and scheduling optimization
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify AI opportunities and gather requirements
• Deploy models into production and monitor performance
• Conduct data analysis and preprocessing to support model development
• Document processes and ensure compliance with data governance standards

 Knowledge & Skills:

• Scope:  This role supports global crew operations and analytics across HAL and Seabourn brands, impacting both shore and fleet operations.
• Problem solving:  Requires advanced analytical skills to build predictive models, anticipate operational challenges, and propose data-driven solutions.
• Impact:  Contributes to the strategic direction of crew management through AI innovation, influencing staffing, scheduling, and performance metrics.
• Leadership:  May lead project teams and mentor junior analysts; no direct reports initially but expected to manage cross-functional initiatives.

 Requirements 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch)
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and model deployment
• Understanding different prompting approaches, prompting strategies including chain-of-thought, and role-based prompting strategies
• Familiarity with JSON
• Knowledge of token management and cost-performance trade offs
• Strong Understanding LLM architecture, embedding, inference behavior
• Must Understand AWS bedrock, Azure and Open AI
• 3+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

Travel:  Less than 25% non-shipboard travel likely

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.

This position is classified as “in-office.”  As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Holland office Tuesday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Mondays and Fridays.

• Base Salary Range: $86,500 to $116,800. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and experience uniquely.
