Autonomous Solutions Inc builds autonomous systems for fleets operating in demanding, high-risk, and repetitive environments. Founded in 2000, we've grown into one of the largest privately held robotics companies in the world, with deployments across heavy construction, agriculture, logistics, and landscaping. Our work is guided by seven core values: Simplicity, Safety, Transparency, Humility, Attention to Detail, Autonomy, and Growth. Being privately held means good ideas move quickly, ownership is real, and the work you do here shows up in the world.

As an AI Engineer IV (Perception), you will develop, optimize, and deploy AI-driven perception systems that enable Autonomous Solutions Inc's robots to interpret and understand their environment. You will build advanced detection, classification, and tracking models, integrate them with multi-sensor suites, and ensure reliable performance across diverse field conditions. Your work spans model development through production deployment, with a focus on real-time accuracy, low-latency inference, and compatibility with planning, control, and safety modules downstream.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain perception models for detection, classification, segmentation, and tracking.

  • Optimize perception pipelines for accuracy, speed, and robustness under real-world field conditions.

  • Embed perception models into production systems compatible with planning, control, and safety modules.

  • Convert perception models into scalable services, APIs, or embedded libraries for real-time workloads.

  • Integrate models with sensor suites including cameras, LiDAR, radar, and multimodal fusion pipelines.

  • Test and validate perception systems using simulation, recorded datasets, and field deployment.

  • Monitor deployed systems and implement retraining strategies to improve performance over time.

  • Collaborate with robotics engineers, sensor experts, and software developers on perception output alignment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of experience as a Perception Engineer or in a closely related role.

  • 3+ years developing computer vision models or other AI applications for detection, classification, segmentation, or tracking.

  • Proficiency in Python, C++11 or newer, C, and ROS.

  • Hands-on experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or perception-specific libraries.

  • Familiarity with cameras, LiDAR, radar, and sensor fusion techniques.

  • Strong understanding of multithreaded embedded software development in Linux.

  • Solid foundation in linear algebra including coordinate transformations and least-squares methods.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position at a computer workstation for extended periods.

  • Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment continuously.

  • Ability to communicate and exchange information in person, via phone, and through electronic means.

  • Ability to traverse office, lab, data center, and field environments as required.
