We are seeking a visionary and hands-on Lead AI Engineer to define and execute the AI strategy for a rapidly growing enterprise software company. This role offers the rare opportunity to be the first AI hire, working directly with executive leadership to shape agentic AI solutions that accelerate product development and drive measurable impact for thousands of customers. You will lead technical initiatives, mentor teams, and deliver innovative AI-powered products at scale. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-moving, collaborative environments, possesses deep expertise in modern AI architectures, and enjoys translating complex AI concepts into practical, high-value applications.

Accountabilities:

  • Define and implement the AI-first vision and technical roadmap, including architecture and design for advanced AI features.
  • Develop agentic AI solutions using modern AI architectures such as RAG and vector databases.
  • Lead cross-functional AI initiatives and mentor engineering teams on AI technologies and best practices.
  • Collaborate with product, operations, and engineering leadership to remove blockers and ensure rapid, high-quality feature delivery.
  • Establish repeatable AI development processes and drive build-measure-learn cycles with measurable success metrics.
  • Partner with stakeholders to align AI solutions with strategic business objectives and customer needs.


Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with 3+ years in a lead or technical leadership role.
  • Deep expertise in LLM operations, prompt engineering, and modern AI architectures (RAG, vector databases).
  • Advanced Python programming skills and experience with web frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with LLM platforms such as OpenAI, LiteLLM, or AWS Bedrock.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals, system design skills, and experience shipping production-ready products.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical teams and deliver measurable results.
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable operating autonomously while collaborating with executive leadership and stakeholders.
