QTEC Aerospace is seeking an ARTIFICATL INTELLIGENCE (AI)/MACHINE LEARNING (ML) ENGINEER to join our team of professionals at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO. The successful candidate will become part of a team of professionals representing both industry and government in support of a Missile Defense System (MDS) with a mission of protecting the United States and our allies. The successful candidate will be detail oriented, have a proven track record and a positive work ethic.
Job Summary
QTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The successful candidate will function as an integral member of a multi-contractor team providing program, engineering, and technical support to Missile Defense programs. The chosen candidate will be responsible for supporting development of AI/ML products directly feeding the AI/ML strategy, communicating AI/ML concepts and results to both technical and non-technical audiences, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative AI-powered solutions
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:
- Support the full lifecycle of AI/ML projects, from problem definition and data collection to model development, deployment, and monitoring
- Support design, development, and implementation of AI/ML models and algorithms using appropriate tools and techniques
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of AI/ML models through rigorous testing and validation
- Support collaboration with software engineers and DevOps teams to deploy AI/ML models into production environments
- Support the AI/ML lead in monitoring the performance of AI/ML models in production and support the AI/ML lead identify areas for improvement
- Communicate AI/ML concepts and results effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Work in close coordination with multiple teams that will leverage AI/ML products
- Work with AI/ML Lead to define problem statements and success metrics for AI/ML products
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a Masters' Degree
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment
- Possess a fundamental understanding of AI/ML principles and experience supporting AI/ML projects from conception to deployment
- Must be able to work with little direct supervision, work as an integral member of a product delivery team, and meet time critical delivery schedules
- Familiarity in a variety of AI/ML techniques, including deep learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and reinforcement learning
- Experience with programming in Python, R, or other relevant languages
- Experience with AI/ML frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and Keras
- Experience with Large Language Models/Generative AI and Prompt Engineering. Also, using LLM/GAI solutions for usage in human-machine teaming for Software Development.
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Must be able to work effectively in a dynamic and collaborative team environment
- Ability for some limited travel (less than 10% time) to support program meetings
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and prepare and brief presentations to the customer as needed
- Self-starter with ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience in Engineering and Aerospace
- Familiarity with MLOps and deploying models at scale
- Familiarity with A/B testing and other methods for evaluating the performance of AI/ML models
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools
- Experience working with sensitive data and adhering to data privacy regulations
- Experience in Modeling and Simulation
- Knowledge of the flight characteristics, motion, atmospheric dynamics, and performance of missiles
- Knowledge of engineering modeling principles behind body motion, trajectory analysis, counter measures, debris, and signature modeling
- Background with missile system models, atmospheric dynamics, and performance
- Experience in Agile software development methodologies including Scrum and Kanban
Security Clearance
Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.
Salary Range
The below salary range represents a general guideline; however, QTEC considers a number of factors when determining base salary such as the scope and responsibilities of the position as well as the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $166,000
