This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Principal AI/ML Engineer in the United States.

As a Principal AI/ML Engineer, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced AI systems that power critical operational workflows. This role offers the opportunity to architect scalable AI infrastructure, implement multi-agent and multi-modal solutions, and mentor engineers to advance technical excellence. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate complex requirements into production-ready AI systems capable of supporting large-scale, regulated, and offline-capable environments. By driving technical strategy and establishing engineering standards, you will play a key role in shaping the future of AI-powered operations and human-AI collaboration. This position emphasizes innovation, reliability, and impact in mission-critical applications.

Accountabilities:

·        Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale AI/ML systems that support complex operational workflows.

·        Architect AI infrastructure capable of multi-agent orchestration, multi-modal reasoning, and knowledge graph integration.

·        Translate operational needs into technical roadmaps and practical AI solutions.

·        Define system-level standards for model development, evaluation, and deployment, ensuring scalability and reliability.

·        Collaborate with infrastructure teams to build robust data pipelines that power AI applications.

·        Mentor senior and staff engineers, promoting best practices in AI/ML engineering and technical leadership.

·        Establish evaluation frameworks, SLOs, and monitoring practices for AI system performance and reliability.



Requirements

·        M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

·        10+ years of experience designing and deploying large-scale, distributed AI/ML systems.

·        Proven experience integrating LLMs with retrieval systems and implementing real-world AI solutions at scale.

·        Strong understanding of AI system safety, model evaluation, red-teaming, and secure ML practices in regulated environments.

·        Experience with multi-modal AI, agent orchestration, and graph-based reasoning systems.

·        Familiarity with NLP techniques such as Named Entity Recognition (NER) and information retrieval methods.

·        Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives and mentor engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

·        Background in defense, national security, or other mission-critical domains.

·        Experience orchestrating systems that combine text, structured data, and domain-specific signals.

·        Strong track record of technical leadership in high-stakes, regulated environments.
